In 1994 there were two major players which competed on the market of desktop mapping systems - MapInfo Corp. with its MapInfo product and Strategic Mapping Inc. with Atlas GIS. They had approximately same parts of the market segment. Different closed formats of map data prevented users from moving from one system to other.
Implemented project allowed MapInfo to convert Strategic Mapping Inc. clients to its MapInfo Pro.
MapInfo is the leading provider of Location Intelligence solutions, integrating software, data and services to provide greater value from location-based information and drive more insightful decisions for businesses and government organizations around the world. |
